Apple Music officially has over 11 million subscribers sign up since its launch, Apple confirmed in a statement to USA Today. Eddy Cue, Apple’s senior VP for internet software and services also commented on the success, “We’re thrilled with the numbers so far”.

Apple launched its Apple Music service on June 30 as part of iOS 8.4. Apple announced two separate subscription plans: Individual plan for $9.99/month and a Family plan (for upto 6 members) for $14.99/month. Apple also introduced an initial 3 month trial period for users to test out the newly introduced service.

Apple Music further provides access to over 30 million songs, human curated playlists and a live radio station known as Beats One. Apple Music launched on a platform previously dominated by the music streaming service, Spotify. Apple Music debuted with exclusive albums such as Taylor Swift’s 1989 which is only available on Apple Music.

Despite these huge membership figures for Apple Music, the true result will be known in October, when the 3 month trial period will come to an end.
