Logitech Performance MX mouse review

Logitech is known for making a wide variety of computer peripherals. When it comes to productivity, its important that your able to control your workflow do be efficient. Logitech’s Performance MX mouse is one that can help for this very purpose. Logitech does make a bigger brother for the Performance MX called the MX Master.

The Logitech Performance MX mouse is pretty famous in its own right on being a great tool for productivity. Included in the box with the mouse is Logitech’s famous unifying receiver along with the manual which you may not require.

The mouse itself may seem a little bigger than usual (the same goes with Logitech MX Master as well). The mouse does not however come with built-in Bluetooth connectivity, which is available on the MX Master. It uses Logitech’s unifying receiver which can connect upto 6 peripherals but takes up 1 USB port.

The MX Performance is also ergonomic and comfortable to use for long periods of time. In terms of functionality, the mouse comes with Logitech’s special scroll wheel which can be configured for infinite scrolling or just short scrolls at the click of button. The mouse also has a Forward, Back, Zoom and a thumb button in addition to the left and right buttons. Its important to note that the mouse is designed primarily for right hand users. While it’s possible for left hand users to use the mouse, the ergonomics may be different.

The mouse has a rechargeable removable battery which typically lasts for about 3 weeks to a month under normal use although I was able to get about 2 weeks under a little-higher-than-moderate use. The mouse also recharges really quickly so running out of charge shouldn’t be a problem for most.

In terms of response time, the mouse works wonderfully. The added DarkField sensor from Logitech enables it to be used on multiple types of surfaces such as glass. This helps the mouse track really well. Some users have complained of the mouse not tracking well when it’s a far from its receiver but I haven’t faced that problem during my 2 months of use.

The mouse costs $99. If you’re looking for great mouse but don’t want to spend over $100 for the MX Master, the MX Performance is the best choice for you and will definitely get the job done with not a lot to lose. If you’re looking for a gaming mouse however, this isn’t it, there other mouse’s out there to better suit your needs.
