Concept of Artificial intelligence has been in our world ever since the classical ages . Though machine learning models of AI looks complex, Its history is quite interesting.

  • TALOS: In Greek mythology the concept of AI can be seen. It seems that the greeks created a robotic warrior to guard an island. No one knows if that’s true but concept of AI can be seen here.
  • TURING TEST: Then we come all the way to 1950 when Alan Turing speculated the possibility of creating machines that could think. A certain test known as Turing test was created to test the efficiency of AI systems. The test states that if a machine could converse which would be indistinguishable with human characters, then the machine is said to have passed the rest. But unfortunately no machines has been able to pass this test.
  • AI LAB: In 1959 the first AI research lab was setup at Manchester Institute of Technology.
  • FIRST CHATBOT: In 1961 the world’s first chatbot ELIZA was invented .
  • FIRST MAJOR ACCOMPLISHMENT: Then we come all the way down to 1997 when AI developed by IBM known as deepblue defeated the world chess champion of that time Garry kasparov in a game of chess. This was considered as the first major achievement of AI.
  • DARPA CHALLENGE: In 2005 Stanford racing team’s robotic car won the DARPA brand challenge. This was another accomplishment of AI.

And from then on AI has grown in a faster pace solving many of the world’s problems in healthcare,education,accidents..etc

WHAT STARTED AS AN HYPOTHETICAL CONCEPT IS NOW TAKING THE WORLD BY STORM .
