Financial 💸

  • Amsterdam based Elastic went public closing 94% up in the first day of trading on NYSE, raising $252M at a $2.5B valuation in its IPO.
  • Blockdata raises €200k funding to map blockchain ecosystem from undisclosed angel investors.
  • MRIguidance, a spin-off company of the UMC Utrecht raised €1.5 million from Health Innovations to further their 3D visualization software of bone anatomy.
  • Solease, a platform for renting solar panels raised €2 million through the crowdfunding platform DuurzaamInvesteren.nl.
  • Zivver, a secure communications company raises $12 million from Dawn Capital with participation from DN Capital and the existing investor henQ Capital Partners.
  • Quicargo, a logistics startup raised €3 million lead by SLJ Investments Partners with participation from existing and new investors from the tech and logistics industry.
  • Advance Publications acquired a stake in Amsterdam based esports and games analytics firm Newzoo.
  • Green Dutch startup Land Life Company raised €3.5M in series A funding for their reforestation venture from The Jeremy and Hannelore Grantham Environmental Trust Neglected Climate Opportunities Initiative.
  • Siilo raised €4.5 million to bring secure instant messaging to healthcare worldwide. The funding round was led by EQT Ventures.
  • Meatable, the lab-grown meat company raised $3.5 million from three venture capital firms — BlueYard Capital, Atlantic Food Labs, and Backed VC.
  • Red Hat, an international company providing open source software solutions with offices in Amsterdam was acquired by IBM for $34 billion.
  • In Ovo received a grant of €50,000 from the EU’s Horizon 2020 program for their poultry gender screening technology.
  • Dutch semiconductor firm Nexperia was bought out for $2.8 billion by China’s Wingtech.
  • Brenger a P2P delivery startup raised €950,000 in angel investment from Tablomonto.
  • Shopsuite a solution to monetize online traffic by driving sales for merchants raised €250,000 from independent investors.

  • SKEPP, a Dutch proptech company launched an online comparison website for office space. After initial success in the Netherlands, Germany and Belgium, the company is set to make its debut in Austria, France, Switzerland and Spain.
  • Dutch startup Asperitas wins Shell’s international startup competition thanks to their unique liquid cooling solution for data centers they have developed. Taking home €100,000 to support their project.
  • RanMarine Technology has developed an aquatic robot that eats up floating plastic garbage. It can swim for up to16 hours and collect up to 200 litres of trash in one trip.
  • Utrecht-based Medtech scaleup Active Cues recently won the top prize at the EIT Digital Challenge awards 2018 under the category of Digital Wellbeing. As the part of the prize package, the company will be receiving €100,000, which will be €50,000 in cash and €50,000 in the form of support for further growth.
  • Utah-based visual design platform Lucid Software has raised $72 million funding round from new investors Meritech Capital and ICONIQ Capital, with this new funding they are moving to Amsterdam to set up a new HQ.
  • The Deloitte Technology Fast 50 took place awarding the fastest-growing startups worldwide. The Inner Circle was voted the winner with 3460% revenue growth. Temper also took off with the title Rising Star 2018.
  • The Ministry of Justice and Security has started its Startup in Residence programme: register now. There are several challenges startups and young enterprises can register for.   • UtrechtInc selects 7 new innovative Dutch startups for next-gen Pressure Cooker program including FoodApp, Holomoves, HoofdMaatje, Learned, Moveshelf, NANOcet and Sentriq.
