Apple has officially unveiled Apple Music Classical. After a relatively long wait and speculation, we’ve finally seen the official unveiling of a new streaming service focusing exclusively on classical music. The event leading up to this movement began in August 2021, when Apple bought Primephonic.

At the time, the latter focused on classical music, giving listeners access to a global library of classical music. But the wait is finally over. As Apple itself mentioned in a statement, Apple Music Classical brings a simple and fast way to access the world’s largest library of classical music.

Its fans will be able to enjoy music with premium sound quality combined with immersive Spatial Audio. The service will also offer hundreds of already organized playlists, with biographies of individual artists and a simple user interface.

Price and availability

Apple Music Classical is getting its app, which is available now through the App Store. You can currently ‘pre-order’ it, which means it will automatically install on your iPhone the day it launches. Unfortunately, it’s not available for iPads.

As for the price, however, you must have an active subscription to the Apple Music platform to use the service. Although the news has its app, it is still part of Apple’s streaming service. Apple Music Classical will still be available in March, specifically on March 28, 2023.

So if you head to the App Store and tap the Get button, it will be automatically installed on that date. It’s also worth noting that it requires an iOS 15.4 or later operating system and an internet connection. The service will be available worldwide wherever Apple Music is available. The only exceptions are China, Japan, Korea, Russia and Taiwan.
