Today I have a short update to the Chrome extension I’m creating for you. With the latest changes to Medium, unfortunately, the plugin was still not working properly, and I finally found a free moment to fix it and take it to the next level again. In this article, we’ll go over what’s new so you can get a little bit of an idea of what to expect from the plugin. If you like this plugin, you can support its development.

What’s new in the plugin?

I made a revision of the data and objects, which led to the fact that when you are in charge of managing articles also from a publication, the data for these articles is not downloaded. So as part of the optimization, I made a change where only data for the user is currently processed. Thanks to this optimization, the plugin as such works with much less data and is therefore, faster.

Popup

There have been some visual changes to the plugin popup. This is displayed when you click on the plugin icon in the browser bar. A link has been added here for possible plugin development support. Also modified the footer and removed the ability to switch the user profile between publications where the user is the editor/owner.

Your Story Stats

Since the medium was changing what is displayed on the Your story stats page, I had to modify what is displayed within the plugin and also needed to change the entry connection point. While I was making these adjustments I turned off the display of icons under the tags at least for now, without these icons the page renders faster and the resulting table doesn’t look as broken.

The plugin currently adds back the views and reads columns. We are talking about members' reads to the previous day -I will still need to check this since the value that shows in the total section of the detailed stats for a particular article does not match the reads value what is returned within the used API call.

The last column added is the members read ratio column, here it is the value given in the member reads column divided by the value given in the views column. So this is the figure over the whole article, not the proportion in which people with subscriptions read your articles.

Tag details

Further changes needed to be made to the tag detail pages, where due to the completely new page layout, it was no longer possible to display the same detailed information for each tag you looked at.
