Box Office: The Highest Grossing Nigerian Movies in 2019

The Nigerian movie industry, otherwise known as Nollywood, has witnessed quite a decent run of form in the last five years, with movie titles like The Wedding Party 2: Destination Dubai, released in 2017, having grossed over half a billion Naira in the box office to date, and making it the biggest Nollywood movie of all time, in terms of revenues.

Another major milestone for the industry was Netflix’s acquisition of worldwide rights to the comedy movie, Lionheart, produced by Genevieve Nnaji, one of the best Nollywood movie actresses of all time, making it the first Netflix original film from Nigeria. Other movie titles that have made it to Netflix include, Fifty, Chief Daddy, King of Boys, The Wedding Party, The Wedding Party 2, Merry Men: The Real Yoruba Demons, and Up North.
