Profitable List Building
3 Big Opt-In Give Away Mistakes
…and What to Do Instead
Profitable List Building requires you to have a great give away so you can build a highly responsive list community.
And you do want a highly responsive list community, right?
The challenge is there are so many mistakes, some simple and some huge, that can be made when creating your give away.
Let’s take a closer look at three of the biggest mistakes and what to do instead.
3 Big Give Away Mistakes
Mistake Number One: The Newsletter
This one is so 1990's! There was a time in the early days of online marketing when you could offer a free newsletter and folks would jump all over it.
Those days are long gone.
Now you’d have to create a sales letter just to get someone to sign up for your free newsletter.
What to do instead: The ONLY way to give away a newsletter now is to make it an extra bonus with the main give way.
Mistake Number Two: The Low Value Give Away
Many beginning marketers believe that since it’s a give away it can be of little or no value. This sends a really bad message to your prospect.
What to do instead: Only give away something that is valuable enough to sell as a product. When you give away something of value, this is the conversion in the mind of your prospect:
“Wow, if I get something this valuable for free, I can’t wait to see what I get when I spend money with this person.”
Mistake Number Three: Failure to Make the Next Steps Crystal Clear
The mistaken assumption is that it’s obvious to you what the prospect needs to do to get your give away.
Fill in your name and email address, right?
What to do instead: Take your prospect by the hand and walk them through the steps they need to take to get your give away and what’s going to happen when they do.
Bottom Line? Make your give away so compelling it’s a no-brainer for your prospect to join your list.
BONUS Tip: Ready to get started? Cool. Here’s a mercifully brief “WorkShop-It! Webinar Show” in which you create your first (or next) opt-in give away.
I know it’s a radical notion to actually get something done on a webinar, but hey, why not? Get started here.
