I am sure that many of you are like me, and you may find being a freelancer, marketing, or self-promotion online very uninteresting.

In fact, even blogging can seem like a big time and effort spending.

Actually, you probably only want to be the writer and get paid for it.

That is why I have proactively researched each and every platform that is capable of paying writers for their content without the use of advertising or affiliate links.

There are these platforms, which I like to call “pay-per-view” platforms, that use a different method.

Let’s start with my personal favorite:

#1. Medium.com

Verified.✅

You may know this already if you are one of my YouTube channel followers and I consider Medium to be my favorite platform for writing.

I believe it’s the ideal space for aspiring writers to:

  • Develop a consistent writing habit as a part of your routine.
  • They can earn from their articles.
  • It is certainly demanding at the beginning (especially if you are a beginner), but Medium is a perfect platform where you can display your work.
  • In addition, it can be used as a very powerful tool for getting clients online or building an email subscriber list.

Expected earnings:
With the knowledge of the best strategy of Medium, you can make between $100 to $1000+ monthly by publishing 1–2 articles every week.

#2. Newsbreak.com

Verified. ✅

One of the key suggestions for online writers is to build various income sources. The fact that you are not using platforms with pay-per-view only can cause you to become vulnerable to changes in algorithm preferences.

With Medium’s algorithm acting like a hurricane in late 2023, Newsbreak became my life jacket.

In my experience, Newsbreak offers the highest earning potential among current pay-per-view platforms, primarily due to

  • Frequent virality of articles
  • Blending of A.I. technology (if it is required).
  • First and foremost, I put my money where my mouth is, when it comes to Newsbreak. I may not be able to achieve the satisfaction of writing on Medium, but it will be able to cover my expenses.

Expected earnings:
When you have mastered the skill of news writing (including headlines that attract attention), you can make anything between $500 to $5,000+ per month.

One day, David, my friend, made $10,000 in one month by working for the Newsbreak. It was in the year 2023.

#3. Vocal.Media

As an act of transparency, I must point out that I did not write the article for Vocal.Media. The answer is I could not find much of proof that writers are earning a lot of money from the platform.

Although Vocal provides contests and cash payouts for active contributors, its traffic level is not high enough to provide a significant monthly income to contributors.

Expected earnings:
It’s pretty difficult to give a precise number as I haven’t tried it on my own. Vocal pays writers $3.80 for every 1,000 views, and the average monthly earnings, which do not include any money made from contests, are between $5 and $200.

#4. HubPages.com

Like Vocal, HubPages also has a platform where the earnings are small, and the majority of users come from Pinterest referrals.

This is the reason why bloggers prefer this platform as it offers a variety of earning options including affiliate links, products, or services, especially in lifestyle niches like health, wellness, travel, and entrepreneurship.

Expected earnings:
HubPages generates revenue by using Google AdSense, with the earnings being affected both by the number of views and reader interaction.

While they are free and readily available to everyone, the writers on HubPages rarely make considerable profits.

#5. Twitter.com

I am ranking Twitter (or “X”) at the bottom of the list not because it is inferior but rather because its potential is still unclear due to its relative novelty.

X Creator Program provides different opportunities for creators to earn money such as revenue sharing for tweets and videos, paid subscriptions for exclusive content, and paid Spaces for hosting premium ticketed events.

Applicants for monetization must satisfy certain conditions, including having 500 followers or more and recent activity on the platform.

Expected earnings:
Considering the program’s changing characteristics, it is difficult to determine what the earnings will be with certainty.

Nevertheless, it provides a great chance for producers to earn money using their work.

If you are an existing Twitter user or you currently promote your writing there, I would suggest considering the option of applying for the X Creator Program.
