How Do I Get Free Medium Membership?
Why Medium Membership?
A couple of decades ago, sources of information were limited to libraries, newspapers, and magazines. Today we complain of “Information overload” in this fast-paced internet world.
Everything is on internet, you just need to Google it.
The point is not about the availability of information but faster, accurate and precise information. This is where some of the platforms like Medium have created a niche.
It is not Information Overload. It is Filter Failure
When you need total access to multiple articles on this platform and especially when you are a writer or creator, a subscription is key. You cannot keep the urge to learn and innovate alive if you have restricted access. Imagine you are allowed only 5 cups of coffee a month!
I see great value in Medium membership(subscription). The best part is I found a way so that it paid without spending from my credit cards.

Here is what I did so that my Medium subscription is paid without spending my extra bucks.
Google Opinion Rewards
I installed the Google Opinion Rewards app on my phone and found better ways to use it. For those of you who do not know about it — “Google Rewards helps you to earn quick small money by answering surveys.” It takes me 5 to 10 seconds to answer a survey and earn 10 to 60 cents(average 25 cents). I know it looks very small amount but is it really?
25 cents in 10 seconds is $1.50 a minute which is $90 an hour. So, for the math for the time you spent on it is great!
I have an average $20 always in my Google rewards even after paying a monthly subscription to Medium and paying for my Google One subscription.
Tips on Google Opinion Rewards
1. Setup information — Provide correct information in the initial survey about you. There will nothing be more personal than your social media accounts. The surveys calibrate the information to your profile if you are a student, parent, working professional, owner of a house or rental, education, and similar information. Google anyways knows you more than your girlfriend or spouse.
2. Location settings — Keep the location settings enabled, especially in maps. I often get a survey when I return from grocery stores like Walmart, Superstores or restaurants, and fast food chains. The information asked from me in a survey is 1 to 5 questions maximum which is like : (1) Did you go to Walmart on Sunday? (2) Did you buy anything? (3) Did you pay by Credit card, Debit card, or other means?
Sometimes I go to the convenience store next to Walmart and it still asks me if I went to Walmart. I do say Yes because the next question is did you enter the store where I say ‘No’.
I also get surveys asking me if I watched a youtube video and if I would like to see such videos — all in 3 or 4 quick-click questions.
3. The First month will be slow — The first month will be slow and don’t expect a lot of surveys as it is capturing your information and profile from your search, travel, location, and many other factors. Have patience but do not miss surveys and answer even if it is one question giving 10 cents.
4. Notification — Surveys often last for short period like 24 hours or a max of 48 hours. Missing surveys show you are not interested, so have a notification on for the Survey app. Attempt all surveys.
Here is a my Google Opinion Rewards Balance:
Today I enjoy taking these 2 to 5 questions 5 seconds surveys. I don’t even keep track of how much I earned but when I see after a month I always have more than $20
5. More opportunities to spend — I sometimes use the Google Opinion Rewards money to buy courses on Udemy as I find sometimes there are great deals on their courses. I also use them to pay a small monthly subscriptions for some of my favorite apps. Not having these small amounts pile up on my credit card gives me satisfaction.

I wish I could have started with it earlier. The figures I mentioned above from my own account say the story. If you are starting today, it is still not late.
