Personally, I have tried multitasking time and again in my life since childhood, but I never seemed to truly master it because I divided my attention on two or more separate tasks, which hindered my full capacity to get things done efficiently and with precision. Even when I completed the tasks while multitasking, they weren’t done as perfectly as I would have done them if I were doing them individually.

But then I heard about the “Time Blocking Technique," which basically means getting things done one by one separately, where you schedule out every part of your day. It is a technique for managing your time that involves breaking your day up into time blocks. Every block has a specific task assigned to it and is only meant to be used to complete that one particular task or set of related tasks. I tried it, and it was a game changer. Not only did I get the things done in almost the same amount of total time, but I got them done efficiently and with precision, and that was because my mind was focused on the sole task at hand, my attention was not diverted, and I had the capacity to laser focus at any given moment if I needed to.

However, that does not mean you cannot train your mind to multi-task; the mind is trainable, and you can develop the synapses in your brain by repetition.

It really depends on the individual and the requirements. I have observed that getting things done efficiently and with precision using some other techniques, such as the “Pomodoro Technique” and the “Timeboxing Technique," does not require any prior training, and an individual can achieve the pace of speed they desire even in the very first attempts. But if an individual is in a situation where they are required to perform the same multiple tasks in their daily life, then in this case the multitasking can be done with efficiency and precision because, in this circumstance, an individual can train their brain by repetition and get better at what they do gradually with time, and this will get things done fast.

Pre-Planning

Another thing that plays a crucial role in getting things done quickly is pre-planning, which is somewhat similar to the timeboxing technique but in much more detail. It does not necessarily have to be lengthy pre-planning work; it can be as simple as planning in your head, organizing all the tasks that need to be done in order, and thinking of what is going to be the first and last step of each task. For what duration do you expect to finish each task?

And this brainstorming session can be done even during a shower or while driving.

And pre-planning can really prepare you for the tasks at hand in advance and get things done much quicker.

Management

Another thing that you can do is manage better. Management plays a great role in getting things done quicker; if you develop the psychological capability of managing better, you will become really good at getting things done fast, and managing has multiple layers to it; it is not just limited to self-management; it also involves physical environmental management through other people. For example, if you are the CEO of a company and you have to get some projects done quickly, you can hire different people suitable for the separate tasks within the project that they are experts in, and this way you can focus on the other company’s task at hand, and you can get things done much faster this way.

Teams can also be hired, and automation can also be created and implemented using computers.

Focus

Lastly, a really important aspect that plays a crucial role in creating a psychological ability to get things done fast is the ability to focus and concentrate, and you don't have to be born with this skill; it can be developed. Needless to say, one should be sober and also have the mental ability to muffle out all the noise of life to focus on the tasks at hand.
