I Missed Freelancer’s Day This Year

How you can make the most of that day

Did you know that since 2018, Freelancer’s Day has been celebrated annually on May 14th? I’ve been a freelancer for years, but this day has no meaning for me. I only noticed it this year because I took a closer look at my emails over the weekend. There was an email from Freelancermap, who by the way, created the day that brought it to my attention.

But while it is clear on Mother’s Day that all mothers get flowers and gifts, and on Father’s Day, many men go on a hiking tour with a handcart filled with beer bottles, Freelancer’s Day comes across relatively inconspicuous.

An article on Freelancermap about Freelancer’s Day 2021 describes some of the freelancing advantages and some statistics regarding the current situation, but nothing really new.

Worldwide, there are celebration days for different professions, e.g.,

  • on February 24th: the World Bartender Day,
  • on first Wednesday in June in the USA: the National Tailor’s Day,
  • on October 5th: the World Teacher’s Day,
  • on last Friday in July: the System Administrator Appreciation Day.
