Do you ever feel emotional or physical tension? If your answer is yes, then you may suffer from stress. It can cause you to feel angry, nervous, and frustrated at any given moment. Stress is your body's initial response to the demands and challenges of everyday life.

What are the different stress types?

The three types of stress are episodic, acute, and chronic. Episodic stress is usually triggered by taking on a huge variety of tasks at one given moment. This is very typical of our jobs and families. Acute stress occasionally happens suddenly and is unavoidable.

An example of acute stress would be having a family emergency that is completely out of your control. Chronic stress occurs after a prolonged amount of time and is constant. This is the most severe type and if it goes untreated it results in serious health issues.

How can I manage my stress levels?

There are several ways to try and manage stress levels. I always try to evaluate specific situations in my life that are controllable. Have you ever heard the saying, “ Only worry about the things you can’t change and change the things that you can?” This just simply means, making small changes in your life to the stressful situations that are in your control. We all know that some of the most stressful situations consist of our relationships and jobs.

These are both controllable and we often sacrifice our mental stability for the satisfaction of others in our personal and professional relations. People don’t ever really change and our situations are constantly changing. Try taking a closer look at your relationships and jobs in regard to your stress levels. If you notice that your cons outweigh your pros there is definitely room for change.

Positive change is always needed.

We often choose to remain in stressful situations because of the comfortability factor. Change is often scary and uncertain, but it is such a wonderful experience.

Get out of the familiar box and do some new, fun, and exciting things in your life. You might actually enjoy it. I recently made drastic changes to my life. I became a freelancer and digital nomad. I now work and live on my own terms. Yes, these changes were very scary, but I wouldn't change a thing.

I wake up in the morning with little to no stress and focus on my mental and physical improvements. Loving myself and actually taking care of myself has never felt so awesome.

Stop sacrificing yourself at the expense of others who don’t appreciate you. Focus that energy on your own personal growth and development. Take charge of your life and all of the stresses that surround you on a daily basis. Focus more time and energy on self-improvement.

No one will ever love you as much as you can love yourself.
