What School Doesn’t Teach Us About Money

Let’s face it, consumer debt is a significant issue in our society today, and I don’t see it going away anytime soon.

It was recorded that people in the UK owed £1,765.6 billion at the end of December 2021. This is up by £64.2 billion from £1,701.4 billion at the end of December 2020, an extra £1,212.93 per UK adult over the year.

This is an astonishing amount of debt, and as you can see, the numbers keep rising. So what can be done to understand why this is and how we stop it?

I believe this all stems from our relationship with Money right from childhood.

Plenty of our behaviours and aspirations towards Money have been programmed right from the sandpit and often learned behaviour from parents, family members and the community around us growing up.

Not to mention that a majority of us have an underlining desire to acquire a good chunk of Money in life. But if we start with the wrong programming, then surely we will be like those before us who can’t see the wood through trees under the pilling consumer debt.

Society pushes the narrative of getting rich quick, betting big and spending big. But what’s the point in acquiring all of this Money when our…
