What I’m Learning from Younger Generations about Ditching Outdated Norms and Earning Online
Is it too late for Gen X to get in on the freedom and autonomy of making money online?
You have been trained since childhood to benefit society.
That statement seems benign until you realize that the current societal system was set up by people who are now long gone. Post-WWII, society needed to recover and rebuild, so a three-step system was set up to do just that:
- Go to school.
- Get a job.
- Retire.
Of course, there are some choices in between — you get to choose which school, which job, who to marry, how many kids to have, which house to buy, what age to retire, and where you will be buried.
My generation (Gen X) grew up with this three-step system. Society was on autopilot when I was a kid. The system worked, and no one questioned it. The result was that people accepted the mundane and the ordinary as the norm.
