Chinese “3–5–2” Policy is a major move towards Tech independence

The Policy is part of the Chinese plan to depend on homegrown technology towards an eventual path to tech supremacy

One of the biggest sticking points of the recent trade war between the United States & China was the issue of forced technology transfers. The former blamed the latter for monopolizing the foreign tech companies’ entry into the Chinese market by conditioning it with the sharing of technology. So why is this a big deal? The U.S government fears that this is part of the Chinese ambitious “Made in China 2025” initiative to catch up with western technological advancement & eventually become a World’s technology leader by 2049.

While the big trade deficit between the two biggest economies became the headline story for the trade war, there was more to the U.S banning of Chinese tech behemoths like Huawei than a simple arm twisting tactic to gain some leverage in the trade war. There is a bigger underlying issue to be addressed in the tech dimension of this trade war. And recent actions by China certainly point in that direction.

There has been this traditional lack of trust between the West & China. The U.S has especially been wary of Chinese intentions with its deceptive overtures. Recently concluded…
