Ripple’s Labs XRP crypto coin wins its first battle against SEC
Ripple Labs achieved a favorable outcome in the Southern District of New York on July 13. Judge Analisa Torres ruled partially in favor of the company in a case initiated by the Securities and Exchange Commission in 2020. The documents revealed that Judge Torres granted summary judgment in favor of Ripple Labs. The ruling stated that the XRP token is not considered a security, but specifically in relation to programmatic sales on digital asset exchanges. The SEC’s lawsuit against Ripple and its two chief executives has been ongoing since December 2020. The judgment lifted the whole crypto market and is being viewed as a revival catalyst for the battered digital assets.
