Aging is associated with a decline in physiological functions — bringing with it an increased risk of developing age-related diseases, which subsequently causes a progressive decline in health and well-being. While the medical and scientific community is still split on the issue of whether aging should be considered a disease, more recent research points to that possibility. We might not be able to completely reverse aging yet, but slowing it down is certainly becoming a real possibility.

I have previously touched base on some of the very promising research being conducted in this field. The most recent one was where scientists were able to reverse immune cell aging. Another promising technique takes out the dysfunctional cells via the “smart bomb” technique. Earlier in 2020, Harvard researchers restored protective caps on the tips of our chromosomes that regulate cell aging. And Harvard researchers are at it again — this time with a novel DNA approach.
