The Credit Suisse Research Institute recently published its tenth-anniversary edition of the Global wealth report. The comprehensive report looks at many factors to determine the global household health. While the global wealth continued to grow steadily in 2019–a 2.6% increase from the previous year at $361 trillion, the distribution of wealth remains skewed within regions & even countries.

Individual wealth can be calculated by combining the valuer of your personal assets — cash in your bank accounts, equity in your home, the value of your investment portfolio, retirement savings & car, etc. The same can be applied to a country at the macro level — assets held by all individuals, households, private businesses, public companies & government holdings. Of course, the debts have to be subtracted.

Here are the takeaways from the Report (infographic above):

  • The total global wealth amounted to almost $360.6 trillion with roughly 46.8 million Millionaires (up from 45.6 millionaires in 2018), and the projected wealth to swell to $459 trillion by 2024.
