Despite the recent pandemic getting all the coverage, there are other ongoing health crises that we have to deal with. Cancer is a major global health problem, affecting millions of people worldwide every year. The World Health Organization (WHO) estimates that approximately one in six deaths worldwide is due to cancer, making it the second leading cause of death globally after cardiovascular disease.

In terms of the overall burden of disease, cancer is responsible for an estimated 9.6 million deaths annually, with millions more people living with the disease and its consequences. The economic impact of cancer is also significant, with direct medical costs, indirect costs related to lost productivity, and the impact on families and communities all contributing to the overall impact of the disease.

The increasing prevalence of cancer is due to a combination of factors, including population growth, aging populations, and changing lifestyles, as well as advancements in medical technology that are allowing people to live longer with cancer.
