Why is China building a genetic database of its 700 million males?

The alarming part is that an American company Thermo Fisher is helping it build another tool for its high-tech surveillance state

I wonder sometimes how submissive must the Chinese 1.4 billion citizens be to surrender to such ubiquitous surveillance powers, exercised by the totalitarian regime in the most populous country of the world. Social behavior, internet usage, free speech — you name it, everything is under the watchful eye of the communist regime in China.

China has always been a country of superlatives. And the recent undertaking might be another addition to these. The country has been well on its course to become a high-tech surveillance state by employing futuristic technology like Artificial Intelligence.

In an apparent move to control the law and order situation, the Chinese government is gathering blood samples from the millions of country’s males. Police have been going around people’s homes and even schools to draw blood and compile genetic information on about 700 million males in the country.

As reported by the New York Times, law enforcement officials starting sweeping across the country in late 2017 to collect enough samples to build a vast DNA…
