“Getting support from developers already in the industry have been a huge help.”

What do you think of the program?

So much fun! Well planned, closely connected to the tech industry and very, very intense.

“Demoing our work at real tech companies is both scary and rewarding.”

What have been the most fun assignment so far?

The team assignments have been very fun. It’s a great way to learn together. And demoing our work at real tech companies is both scary and rewarding. This is also the part that felt the most “real”. Getting support from developers already in the industry have been a huge help.

“It’s challenging to learn so much in so little time — yet, that is what makes the program so enjoyable”

What have been the most challenging so far?

The tempo is high — this program requires full attention. It’s challenging to learn so much in so little time — yet, that is what makes the program so enjoyable. It is amazing how much is possible in a week…

“Sometimes it feels unbelievable that I am able to create functioning sites, after such short time.”

What are you most proud of from the websites you have built so far?

The fact that I’ve done it. Sometimes it feels unbelievable that I am able to create functioning sites, after such short time. The best sites are the projects that are co-created with my classmates — the Christmas Calendar, complete with snow and carols, I really like.

How did you find it to immerse yourself into a new subject for 12 weeks?

This is actually part of what attracted me in the first place. I think this is a learning style that suits me; being able to focus 100% on one thing is something I rarely get to do. I’ll miss it when we are finished!

“Web development is a constant problem solving and learning”

Why did you take the step to be a programmer?

I started to build basic Wordpress sites for yoga teacher colleagues and discovered that I really enjoyed the type of focus involved. As I started to work more with Wordpress, the desire to learn more and to have more control of functionality increased. After doing a few online courses in basic Html and CSS I was hooked.

Web development is constant problem solving and learning, there always seem to be a better way to do things, which suits me well, I think. It also seem to attract people with a great deal of curiosity and humility, which is a really nice context to get to be a part of.

Any tips for those that are thinking about joining next year?

Do it! Make space for allowing yourself to get fully immersed. Come prepared. Also, make time to eat, sleep and relax a bit too :-) Rely on your classmates and enjoy the experience!

What are you hoping to work with after the program?

I really hope to work with development. The dream would be to build projects with code that has a positive impact on peoples everyday lives…
