What’s the first thing you do when you wake up? I’m pretty sure you start checking your phone.

Social media has become a part and parcel of our day-to-day life. It’s affecting us even without us noticing. Social media was started with the intent to create a forum to allow people from different social and cultural backgrounds to interact regardless of location and time. But, unfortunately, there’s a lot more negative impact on the youth from social media than positive.

When was the last time we made friends outside our workplace or college and not on social media? If you are alone at a party or a get together then you are definitely switching between those social media apps to avoid eye contact with strangers, correct? We don’t even talk to people to ask directions anymore. We have the GPS system!

We have become so addicted to scrolling infinitely on Instagram, refreshing constantly for new content, checking likes & comments, updating every minute of our lives on social media. We get influenced by other people’s posts, their success stories. But you know what the problem is? This might make us feel insecure and dejected. We end up hating our own lives.
