This is for you if you are a Recruiter who wants to add supreme value! YMMV (your mileage may vary).

Retro Recruiters: Hey panelist, can you please write feedback for the interview which you completed?

Champion recruiter: Hey panelist, when you are discussing the interview feedback, pull me in. I can take notes and share them with you for validation.

Champion recruiter: Adds value and gives a superior experience not just to candidates but also to the interviewers, which is often ignored in the workplace.

People by default consider that it’s the interviewer’s job to write feedback after the interview. A slight mindset change can make your interviewer’s experience better. Here is how we can help the interviewers, candidates, and org.

Quick Stats:

Typical interview duration: 1hr -1hr 15mins

Feedback discussion time: ~30 mins (Panel discussing amongst themselves and giving the feedback to the recruiters)

After the interview, approx. time taken by the panel to write feedback: ~15 mins.

Tada!!! Enter Champion recruiter!

While the panel is discussing the feedback, you volunteer to write feedback on their behalf while they are discussing the feedback. Starts writing what went well about the interview, what could be improved and what should be checked in the other rounds of discussion.

Voila! you save 15 mins of the panel time!

You can always share the notes you have captured for proofreading, which will only take a couple of mins.

How does it benefit the interviewers?

  1. They are free from constant reminders from systems or recruiters to fill feedback. That irritation is not there anymore.
  2. When panelists are asked to write feedback much later after the interview, they have a hard time recalling the discussion and struggle to jot down points from the interview. With the recruiter volunteering to jot down the points immediately after the interview, this burden is removed.
  3. High availability — The next interviewers receive timely context and have enough information about previous evaluation.
  4. Interviewers get more personal time 🙂

How does it benefit Recruiters and Candidates?

  1. While the recruiter volunteers to write the feedback on behalf of the interviewer, his / her efforts are still reduced 🙂. This is because they don’t have to constantly remind panels to write feedback. This way the ball is not dropped on feedback. Otherwise, it may happen that you as a recruiter are dealing with many candidates and you may miss following up, which will cause a delay in giving feedback to the candidates.
  2. High responsiveness to the candidates as well. They receive their feedback and status updates faster as it’s not panel dependent.

How does it benefit the org?

Apart from the superior experience provided to your interviewers and candidates, this has another huge benefit — Cost saving!

Let’s say you do 120 interviews in 8 months, considering 15 mins spent on writing/collating feedback by the interviewers:

  1. Total minutes spent — 1800 mins (120*15mins)
  2. Total Hrs spent — 30 hrs (1800/60)
  3. Let’s say your hourly billing is 35$, then the total billing is 1050$ (30hrs*35$)
  4. Translating to INR — 84000!
