Technogise was born in November 2015 with a vision to become one of the finest software consulting organisations in the world.

Since that day, every step we have taken, every value we have imbibed & espoused, every function we have established & evolved has been driven by that vision.

And it goes without saying that the most important assets, which will help us achieve that vision, are the values of Technogisers who join us in this journey. After all, Technogise can only be great, if Technogisers are great, right? 🙂

So what values do we see(k) in Technogisers, why do they matter, and how do we evaluate them?

1. TENACITY — A Technogiser is tenacious; someone who never gives up in their quest to provide the best solutions to their clients.

Why does it matter? — Our clients consider us their technology partners. They expect us to strive for giving them the best solution for their business needs, nothing less. If we give up before that, we are not Technogisers.

So how do we evaluate tenacity? — We pose various challenges in our recruitment process, which compel candidates to find solutions. These could be coding challenges, or business case studies, or design assignments, or more.

The Technogisers we find are those who don’t give up till they find a solution, and when asked to find a better solution, they fight to find a better solution.

2. CRAFTSMANSHIP — A Technogiser crafts solutions that are great, both externally (bug free, easy to use, responsive, secure) as well as internally (clean, lean, reusable, scalable, maintainable, testable). Solutions which our clients can be proud of.

Why does it matter? — Our clients expect solutions with world class quality, nothing less. That is our commitment to them and to ourselves. If we’re not committed to, or capable of delivering that high quality, we are not Technogisers.

So how do we evaluate craftsmanship? — Depending on their expertise / specialisation, we ask our candidates to write code, or test software, or create wireframes & visual designs..

The Technogisers we find are those who come up with (or show the potential of coming up with) code / tests / designs that are clean, easy to use, test, maintain and scale.

3. PRAGMATISM — A Technogiser understands the importance and relevance of good engineering practices or agile rituals. They pragmatically follow / apply these practices when they add value, and don’t follow them when it’s a waste. A Technogiser is not dogmatic about following practices.

Why does it matter? — Because Technogise is in the business of delivering value to clients, not in the business of “following a methodology”. Our clients seek business value from us. If we’re focused more on being “methodology purists”, even if it comes at the cost of reducing value to clients, we are not Technogisers.

So how do we evaluate pragmatism? — We evaluate whether candidates truly understand the value behind any practice they follow or concept they implement. We evaluate whether they question (or are willing to question) the practices they follow and evolve them to maximise the value to the client.

The Technogisers we find are those who are focused on giving the most value through their solutions.

4. CURIOSITY — Technogisers love technology. They explore the breadth & depth of technology and better ways of crafting & delivering software. Not because they have to, but because they like to.

Why does it matter? — Our curiosity helps us explore and choose the tool / framework / language / design language / delivery approach which will solve their problem in the best possible way. It helps us understand why or why not to take a particular approach. Therefore, our solutions are driven by informed decisions rather than any ‘trends’ as such.

So how do we evaluate curiosity? — We dive deep into their existing projects to see how well they understand the implementations as well as limitations of their designs. We see whether candidates have really tried to understand the WHYs behind the concepts they’re skilled in (depth). We see if they have tried to explore anything beyond what they’ve worked on (breadth). We also evaluate whether candidates truly understand the value behind any practice they follow or concept they implement.

5. HUMILITY — Technogisers love to learn from each other and the software community at large. They know that no matter how knowledgeable they get, there is always someone who they can learn more from, and it doesn’t matter what / how much experience that person has. They accept constructive criticism because they know it’s only making them better.

Why does it matter? — Healthy collaboration is the backbone to our success at Technogise, and it is humility which maintains that health. It is humility that creates and maintains the strong relationships we have with our clients. If we are not humble, we are not Technogisers.

So how do we evaluate humility? — We see how candidates respond to getting constructive feedback during their recruitment process. We see how they engage with interviewers, especially those who are less experienced than them. We check for signs of defensiveness without rationale, or arrogance.

The Technogisers we find are those who proactively seek and embrace feedback, and collaborate respectfully with everyone.
