First Aid

To start of the First Aid lesson, students will come into class and will be answering the prompt on the whiteboard. The prompt on the whiteboard will be asking students “what is first aid” and also “have you ever had to help someone in need from sickness or an injury”? After students answer the questions we will be having a class discussion on what the students wrote.

After the class discussion, as a class we will be reading chapter 5 from A Long Walk to Water and we will be reading the part where Salva and other are getting stung by bees. During this reading we will be doing a read-aloud from the 50 routines book. During the read-aloud I will be going over the part where the man’s tongue is swollen and he can not eat.

During this time I will be going into a powerpoint that talks about First Aid and will be explaining what First Aid is. Also the Powerpoint will talk about what you should do to care for a person that is in need for help.

Lastly, I will be splitting the class up into groups and I will be given them a piece of paper that has a scenario of a person that is need of help. The group will have to come up with a skit of someone being that person and what that group would do to help that person out.
