Electric power has been a necessity in homes for decades now and people have become accustomed to expecting electricity no matter where they go, but what about when that same electricity that powers your home now powers your car. Now imagine that electricity is used to power a fleet of trucks or delivery vans. The savings on transportation would be huge, and that’s were electric cars ties in with global trade.

Electric vehicle used in trade

As of now electric trucks are still in a concept phase but current estimates offer huge savings over fossil fuel powered vehicle. For example, “Electric energy costs are half those of diesel. With fewer systems to maintain, the Tesla Semi provides $200,000+ in fuel savings” (Tesla, 2018). If this were to be multiplied by an entire fleet of trucks, let’s say about 100 trucks nationwide, that’s a saving of 20,000,000 dollars a year. Those savings would be hard to pass up for switching from diesel power to electric power.

Electric Vehicles have the ability to change the way we move freight around the globe, not only does the use of electric vehicles save money on the company side, but it also helps to reduce emissions that can be harmful to the environment.

Others who agree

Another person who agrees with this view that electric vehicles save money on fuel and are better for the environment would be Eric Doescher who is also doing a research blog. Eric Doescher’s blog is about electric vehicles and one of his main points is that electric vehicles are cleaner for the environment and offer a savings over gas or diesel powered vehicles. I would also have to agree with his other statements about electric vehicles as well, including that electric power is the future of cars a clean energy and as a result the faster we embrace the better off we will be later on as a society.
