Ever asked yourself: What will my #TedTalk be?
What you’re telling me you never thought about it you, never dreamed about being on that stage sharing your story providing your insights having your own Simon Sinek moment, where passion meets inspiration meets the coffee house stage.
If you’re like me then you've watched countless hours of Ted Talks, crying, laughing, nodding your head and being motivated to changed the world. I like to tell people that these aren’t like watching YouTube videos there’s an art and elegance, the unique quality that is associated with every Ted talk that’s given.
As a student of the art of storytelling and someone that loves and has a passion for teaching, sharing my insights and presenting on stage there’s just something special about the Ted Talk experience. (I never touched the stage as I wanted to save that moment much like sports players don’t touch the regular season trophy)
Thanks to an award presented to me by IBM and Economists for the top 25 social business leaders, I was invited out to be in the audience for the first Ted@IBM event. For me this was extra special, not only because it was going to be my first Ted Talk live but I was also a big fan and friends with a couple of those who would be presenting for the very first time on the stage.
The event for me was….
Inspiringly — Mind Blowing
I won’t go into too much detail about each presentation and my thoughts on each as I think it would only be an injustice to the amazing presentations that you will have to watch when they go live on Ted.com. I will share that the stories covered a wide range from the power of sharing, an innovator at 33 who is also a a mother of twins, story about the the power of data, the ability to use computers to one day cook the perfect food, the importance of transparency and even a live demonstration of a headband that presented live real-time interactions of the presenters brain. As the amazing Kare Anderson said on stage..
Become Opportunity Makers!

Picking a story to share:
For me like everything in my life, I can’t think of just one story or one topic that I would want to focus on. On a weekly sometimes daily basis, I’m asked when I’m going to write my first book and besides the fact that I didn’t really become a big fan of reading until I was in my 30's and I’ve never been great with grammar, writing a book on just one topic or theme would be really hard for me unless I focused on my passion, which is my passion for Inspiring Change! (That might happen one day soon) Much like picking something to write a book on, the idea of having that ONE chance that ONE opportunity to take the Ted Talk stage and share a story has me excited and overwhelmed for picking that one story, and I haven’t even been asked to present.
What will be your story?
So what will be my Ted Talk Story? I have no idea but I do have a list that I’ve created since I was in college of lessons I’ve learned in life that I wanted to record to make sure that I remembered when I became a CEO and along with that list grew a second list of passions and life lessons that I would one day share in a book or video about my life. Maybe that will be my Ted Talk.. or maybe it will be about my passion for change or the skills I learned as a professional poker player that have made me a better business person…. or…. I have no idea really…
We all have a story, we all have something we're passionate about and the great thing about Ted Talks is that all types of people with all types of backgrounds take the stage to share their stories with only the hope of giving and if they're lucky inspiring the audience.
So as I work on figuring out what exactly I’ll talk about when I take that Ted Stage one day in the future…. I challenge you to do the same…
What is your passion? What is your story? What life lesson can you share?

As my friend Bryan Kramer put it so well on the Ted Talk stage this week… What can you share that will inspire?
