Project failures are inevitable but can be instrumental in providing insights to make products, services, and organizations better.

We identified 5 lessons you can learn from failures to build the perfect product/service, and avoid those mistakes altogether.

  • Get an outside-in perspective. Interact and engage with your customers to see where you’re going wrong and where you can improve.
  • Focus on outcomes too, not just outputs. Outputs are easy to measure but outcomes are what affect businesses.
  • Continuously execute and innovate. Always experiment with ideas but the fear of failure. Innovation is not a one-step process.
  • Define project scopes from the beginning. Define what success and failure look like, and have clear documentation of the project and its requirements.
  • Test regularly with users and stakeholders. All feedback, good or bad, is essential to understand the direction you need to take. Listen and improve with it.
