It’s more the attack style than the remote access software

The Remote Worker

Since 2020, the remote work force has exploded and while some companies are pushing for their staff to come back into the office, many more are accepting this as the new world order for business.

With this convenience comes more threats from hackers including this one.

Remote Access Software

For this article I’m focusing on Team Viewer, but it could be any remote access software.

Team Viewer allows you, the user to remotely access your office machine from a remote location. It is like you are sitting at your office desk.

The downside is, if the hacker gets in, they also have the exact same access you have, but they also have additional tools to infect your entire network with ransomware.

I personally have seen this after the fact and it’s a soul destroyer, I’ll give you some details in my final thoughts of this article.

Team Viewer

While Team Viewer does a good job at patching it’s software and doesn’t have any known glaring vulnerabilities, it hasn’t stopped hackers in the past attempting to exploit it.
