What is my IP address? Being the second most asked question online, “What is my IP address?”. The solution is really simple, finding out what your IP address is. But we will show you how to find your IP (Internet Protocol) address on any device.

First, we will take a look at the search volume for “What is my IP address?”. But what is my IP address as the second most asked question? We will also take a look at the most asked questions according to Google trends.

Truth be told, we ran out of writing ideas for a bit. And decided to see what questions are asked most. Perhaps we can come up with better content. The 2 most asked questions, however, were nothing that we expected!

Although a simple Google search suggested that “What is my IP address?” is the most asked question. Google Trends proved otherwise. As can be seen illustrated below “What is my IP address?” has been searched 823,000 times in the United States alone.

But we will get to the most searched question, even more than “What is my IP address?” in a bit. So keep reading, because the most asked question on the internet will knock your socks off! We couldn’t believe it!

That is why you might notice that this particular Medium story will focus on “What is my IP address?” and how to find it. We find it rather challenging to come up with article content about “What time is it?”.

What is my IP address? (823,000 USA Searches per Month) As illustrated Below. But you can get the search results for any country with Google Trends. We have just grown used to targeting top-tier countries which plays a huge role from a marketing point of view.

The most asked question on the internet, even more than “What is my IP address?”, is “What time is it?”. Unbelievable, according to statistics over a million people in the United States are not sure what time it is every month.

We are still not sure if we are surprised or shocked. Every handheld device, computer, and even gaming consoles all have built-in clocks. Is it just us, or do you find this a tad strange too?

Heck, even most stoves and refrigerators have clocks built in, as do microwave ovens. How on Earth can “What time is it?” be the most asked question online? However unbelievable this may sound, “What time is it?” is the most searched question on the internet.

What time is it? (1,220,000 USA Searches Per Month) As illustrated below. And we are still just staring at the screen in disbelief. Who would have thought that “What time is it?” would be the most asked question on the internet?

That’s 2,043,000 USA searches per month for the most unexpected questions. “What is my IP address?”. Well, that one is easier to understand. But are people really asking, “What time is it?”. From a computer or handheld device with the time displayed. Seriously?

With both these most asked questions, “What time is it?”, and “What is my IP address?”. As can be seen from the analytic illustrations above, the volume has been rather consistent over the last 5 years. The question “What time is it?”, however, seems to be on the rise!

What is my device IP Address and purpose thereof?

The IP address of any device is basically a unique set of numbers, specifically allocated to each internet or network-connected device. IP addresses can be divided into 4 categories. Static, public, dynamic, or private. But we are not going to get into all that right now.

IP addresses are needed for all devices to be able to communicate with each other. Be it on an external or internal computer network, your device's IP address allows you to connect and digitally communicate.

Any device, computer, Mac, or smartphone has a unique IP address. Because they are devices that receive network traffic, therefore they all have IP addresses. The purpose of your device IP address is to identify your device across all networks.

IP addresses allow us to connect, communicate, and browse online, therefore are essential to the way the Internet operates. Without an IP address, basically, you are disconnected from the world, so to speak.

Basically, there are 9 kinds of IP addresses as listed below. But we are not going to get into the whole explanation or rather a definition of each. If you would like to know what every different IP address is for, then simply do the research.

IPv6 IP address.

Public IP or external IP address.

IPv4 IP address.

Private IP address.

Loopback IP address.

Static IP address.

Shared IP address.

Dynamic IP address.

Dedicated IP address.

With an Ocean of information at your fingertips, we fail to see the need to get into these technicalities right now. Besides, now you have something to keep you busy, and who knows? Perhaps even get ideas to come up with your next Medium story.

Lastly, you must have heard of “proxies”. Proxies will help you change or hide your IP address. That way you can stay anonymous on the internet. Thus serves as extra protection of your privacy by keeping your information safe and not connecting with your IP address itself.

How to check what my IP address is on any device?

Must be one of the easiest things to do. Because all you need is your browser, and then typing the search term, “What is my IP address?” in the search bar.

After you have done this search, a new page will open in your browser. If your primary browser is Google. Then the page should display as illustrated below. It will then show you your public IP address and label it accordingly.

We have just blocked out our IP address, for obvious reasons. But your IP address will show in the grey area as illustrated above. And with that, you will now know what your IP address is.

As for “What time is it?”, well, just use any device. Or just mosey over to your microwave oven. We are rather convinced you will be able to see “What time it is?” from there.

What is my IP address and What time is it conclusion?

The two most asked questions on the internet, based on Google research and Google Trends over the last 5 years. “What time is it?”, and “What is my IP address?”.

The latter (What is my IP address?) we find more related or rather easier understandable. Many people might not know how to find out what their IP addresses are. But “What time is it?”. We just cannot get our thoughts around this one.

But it doesn’t change the fact that “What time is it?”, remains the most searched question on the internet. Both these questions are searched over 2 million times combined each month in the United States alone.
