How Bears Made Me a Better Educator- Issue #39

“Very little is needed to make a happy life; it is all within yourself, in your way of thinking.”- Marcus Aurelius

How much has the world changed since 9/6/2016? Forget September, how much has the world changed since last week?

A new position, in a new school, made time a hot commodity in my household. This is the first issue of Education Hunt since September.

Maybe it’s the extra chatter around Education over the past week. Maybe it’s all this talk about Bears and schools. I’ve dusted myself off, deciding to re-engage.

While I can’t control external factors we face as educators, I can narrow my focus investing my attention to the matters which I may change.

Take this issue as a token of good faith. A return to weekly resources with Education Hunt. I’ve been out of the game but I’m excited to knock off some of my ring rust. Help Education Hunt return to good form, share this issue with a friend.

Present PDF presentations online — beamium.com

Every blue moon I’ll eat a bowl of crow. It’s a dish I’ve learned to love.

Firm but flexible is a favorite maxim of mine. A maxim which affords wiggle room, should things change.

I was the resident critic of Adobe Acrobat. A disdain which is ever evolving. That’s a five dollar way of saying my opinion has flip-flopped.

Beamium raised the standard for presenting Adobe Acrobat slideshows.

Sharing slides, presenting online and engaging your audience using a PDF is no longer a battle. Beamium is your ally, making PDFs productive.

Upload a PDF and you are ready to roll. Beamium constructs multiple on-ramps for students to engage presentations. Share a url, or presentation ID to login.

Beamium launches a campaign, increasing engagement and communication. As students follow, firing feedback for the presenter is a click away. Students ask questions or click a heart to indicate understanding.

Beamium allows you to retain ownership of engagement, using a Report feature. Dissect feedback for each slide, improving for next World History period.

Presenting PDFs sounds simple but has been far from easy. If you are in the camp of Adobe critic, take a stroll through Beamium. Let us know what you think after you kick the tires.
