Crude oil production managing and maintenance

Long-term field exploitation or oil-bearing strata waterlogging leads to increasing of oil water-cut up to 90%. Crude oil and formation water are getting mixed and dispersed while flowing along the wellbore and oil collection pipelines. As a result, they form emulsions stabilizing by natural emulsifiers containing in borehole products: paraffins, resins, asphaltenes, naphthenic acids, etc. Minimal suspended particles of quartz, clay, and salts also contribute to the emulsion stability.

The formation of oil-water emulsion causes serious complications during the extraction, collection and preparation of oil. It influences gas separation and preliminary discharge of water as well. To prevent and eliminate complications, as well as to improve the quality of oil and water treatment, demulsifiers with special properties are used to perform several tasks: direct destruction of emulsions, desalination, purification of formation water.
