Oil companies around the world are seeking for sustainable development

Today, in the conditions of the pandemic, introducing innovations, constantly modernizing the entire production chain, interacting with scientific data and finding solutions that can not harm the environment are becoming more and more urgent.

The largest companies in the energy sector realise this problem more than ever and strive to find technologies that can solve it.

The UN believes that achieving the sustainable development goals requires immediate and concerted action by all countries in all sectors.

At the same time, most of the short-term potential can be fulfilled by expanding existing, well-established measures, for example, in the field of renewable energy and energy efficiency, the use of low-carbon vehicles, as well as phasing out coal.

Research conducted by the UN has shown that in the period after 2030, new technological solutions and gradual changes in consumption regimes at all levels are vital. At the same time, today there are both technically and economically feasible solutions.

UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres says: “This year is unprecedented for our planet and for the planet itself. The COVID-19 pandemic has caused disruption to people’s lives around the world. At the same time, the warming of our planet and climate disturbances continue at a rapid pace. To overcome the climate crisis and achieve sustainable development, we need a long-term, inclusive and environmentally friendly transition. We must turn the recovery from the pandemic into a real opportunity to build a better future. We need science, solidarity and solutions.»
