Document signing is vital for every business and industry. Although there are many solutions to sign a document in the digital environment, we think that this technology still causes confusion.

Here we have identified 3 of these pain points and responded for you as the Techsign crew.

  1. Digital signatures are accepted by court.

Digital signatures, and therefore, biometric signature were made legally acceptable when the Electronic Signatures in Global and National Commerce Act (or E-Sign Act for short) was passed in 2000. It was 1999 when European Union, the EU Directive for Electronic Signatures was passed.

This means that, when properly used, digital signatures on legal documents are just as valid as handwritten signatures. Supported by the technological innovation and the capability to capture unique properties, digital signatures are easily verifiable as opposed to any claim of fraud.

2. Electronic signature & digital signature are not the same thing.

The digital signature allows verification of the person signing. The signature on the document contains various evidence for this verification.
For this reason, digital signature is recommended in situations that require security and sensitivity. However, it should be known that the validity of these two signatures across the law varies from country to country.

The Techsign DOC Agreement Platform includes both of these signing methods for users to have the flexibility to choose considering their regulations, principles of their institutions, their needs & expectations and finally user experience.

3. Digital signatures can be taken both by hand and a digital pen.

Just like wet signature. But on a touch screen.

Techsign DOC is featuring biometric signature which can be either taken by hand or any digital pen. This is the main reason why people have such a limited adaptation process once the software is preferred. However, things were not that easy in the past.

Many countries have invested in certified signature methods that they consider secure, and asked people who want to sign digitally to go physically to a certificate provider and buy a certificate for a limited duration. That method obviously was even harder than wet signature and still lacked demanded security because usb-like dongles to sign documents were handed to unauthorized people by the executives of companies.

Some scandals exposed; some did not but eventually people were already looking for other signing options.
