From Back-of-the-Napkin Ideas to Billion Dollar Exits
What is TechSquare Labs? It’s a common question to those who tour our space or attend an exciting event. They’ve heard of TechSquare Labs: the buzz, the energy, the innovation, the stellar team. They simply want to know our story.
“Are you guys a co-working space?” Not really. Yes we do house co-working space.
“Oh, so you’re an accelerator?” Uh, no.
“An incubator?” Nope.
Paul Judge, co-founder with Allen Nance, sheds light on our brand identity and vision and said it best when TechSquare Labs was still a concept:
Tech Square Labs is neither an accelerator, nor an incubator..
An accelerator is 12 weeks with 15+ companies at a time, and then they are pushed out of the door. An incubator is several years of real estate space with some access to hands-off mentors who typically have no financial interest in creating success.
Tech Square Labs will focus on pre-revenue, or even pre-product companies. (Urvaksh Karkaria, Atl Biz Chron)
“Essentially, Paul and Allen will take operating roles, helping with customer discovery, talent recruiting, product development and fundraising”, said Urvaksh Karkaria of the Atlanta Business Chronicle.
That’s quite different from incubating or accelerating companies. This approach takes back-of-the-napkin ideas in order to turn them into billion dollar exits. This type of active investing is a riskier and less popular approach in startup investing today. But Paul and Allen aren’t your typical investors either.
Both are experts at building companies and scaling fast, with Paul skilled at cyber security and hardware and Allen skilled at marketing automation and customer-centric products and services.
Our goal is simple: build companies, create value and make money.
Our vision is big: to help launch the next billion dollar exit out of Atlanta. It’s no small task. It requires laser focus, hard work, passion and a lot of hustling. But we’re up to the task. We love Atlanta and know the tech talent here in the south is one of the best kept secrets in the American startup ecosystem.
Y’all ready to build something great? Together? Let’s do it!
