Amsterdam is the Netherlands’ capital, known for its artistic heritage, elaborate canal system and narrow houses with gabled facades, legacies of the city’s 17th-century Golden Age.
This week thousands of people will make their way to the Dutch capital to make new connections, catch up with old ones and do business at the cities annual tech conference, The Next Web. Amsterdam is one of my favourite cities in Europe and is the perfect place to host a conference with lots of side dinners and parties. Like Dublin, it’s small and compact which means you can get around the city pretty easy and fast. Especially if you have a bike. There will be no stopping you!
TNW have delivered on quality and consistency for 11 years now. They put on a good show.

Jennifer Cabala is VP of Techstars Startup Programs — Startup Weekend, Startup Week and Startup Digest. She will be speaking on a panel about The Age of Acceleration: Navigating the Growing Startup Accelerator Landscape and will be joined by Y-Combinators Craig Cannon and AngelPads Thomas Korte.
The panel, moderated by Techstars friend and mentor Bindi Karia, starts at 12:55 pm, May 19th on the Entrepreneurship & Talent stage.
Jennifer will also be taking part in several juries helping pick the best companies in the BOOST Startup Competition.
Connor Murphy, a fellow Irish man 🇮🇪, has recently joined Techstars to head up an Accelerator program with SAP.iO Foundry as Managing Director. This program will be focused on B2B SaaS companies, specifically ones with a strong focus on AI and Machine Learning. We will be investing in 10 companies with a program start in September. On Thursday we’re teaming up with our Amsterdam Community Partners and friends TQ for a happy hour.
In the past year, TQ which was founded by the founders of TNW, have launched one of the coolest spaces in Europe for startups and entrepreneurs to come together and build great companies. They have an amazing space in the centre of Amsterdam with a great community and lots of great events. Fun Fact: Managing Director of TQ, Robert Gaal is a Techstars alumni.
