The World Is Your Video Game
Techstars SummerTech: hot tech & cool gear to survive this steamy summer, all from the Techstars network
Ball, like stick or box, is one of the most fundamental toys. With a ball and a little imagination — and maybe some good friends — you can play forever. But while balls come in many shapes and sizes, a ball is a ball, right?
Wrong. You just haven’t met Play Impossible’s Gameball yet. The Internet of Things — and your summer — just got a lot more fun.
The Gameball is a smart ball that connects to your favorite iOS device, and the app comes loaded with games for just you, or for parties. Play with it purely for fun, or hone your sports performance using all the cool data the app collects.
“The entire world becomes your video game,” says Play Imposible CEO Brian Monnin. “Players of all ages can rediscover their backyard, neighborhood park, or beach as they toss, spin, and catch the Gameball with their friends and family.”
Just last summer, Play Impossible was part of Techstars Class 104 and went through the mentorship-driven Alexa Accelerator, Powered by Techstars.
“The Techstars network simply works,” Brian says. “One of our fellow Techstars companies introduced us to a key partner who helped us get introduced to the Apple retail team.”
Now the Gameball is sold exclusively by Apple.
Brian went on: “An Amazon Launchpad event introduced us to the NFLPA/OneTeamCollective, which we recently closed.” According to Geekwire, this means that current and retired NFL players “will become ambassadors for Play Impossible and be featured inside Play Impossible games.”
Seriously, how did we ever play ball before?
