Watch the World Cup Finals From A Virtual Suite
Techstars SummerTech: hot tech & cool gear to survive this steamy summer, all from the Techstars network
Every four years, the world goes crazy for football, and the United States goes crazy for soccer. Whatever you call the sport, the World Cup is the biggest sporting event of summer 2018.
Just in time for the World Cup Finals, we’re here to tell you that the game can, in fact, get even more awesome. You can watch in virtual reality, thanks to LiveLike.
“We developed Fox Sports VR, in which you could watch the 64 games of the World Cup, the biggest event in the world,” says LiveLike Chief Creative Officer Jérémie Lasnier. “It is definitely a great and busy summer for us.”
Other fans may be watching the game from their local bar. But you can enter an interactive, 360-degree virtual suite overlooking the game. Connect with Facebook friends or fellow fans to watch the action, which you can see from different camera angles — plus stats, highlights, and replays.
No VR headset? No problem. Download the Fox Sports VR app, and get the basic experience on your phone.
Back when LiveLike was just starting out, they were part of Techstars Class 62, at Techstars New York in 2015. They’ve come a long way since.
“Being able to create the first Virtual Reality experience to broadcast the biggest event in the world in VR, with social features allowing you to watch the games with four friends, is something we couldn’t imagine when we started three and a half years ago,” Jérémie says. “We learned a lot through the program and mentors.”
The World Cup is huge for LiveLike, but it’s not their only milestone this summer. “We also crossed 50 team members,” Jérémie says. “We have amazing people here that allow us to develop innovative product.”
It really is always about the people.
