Camera:

Sony uses the name mark for their cameras. Thus you know that the camera on this device is gonna be something special as Sony used the same name here,Sony Xperia 1 II( mark two) and it does not fail to impress. It has a triple camera array on the back, specially designed and developed by Sony’s Alpha team with Alpha industry leading AF technology which enables it to support advanced photo technologies with outstanding ZIESS optics calibrated specifically for the Xperia 1 II. It has a single camera on the front. Sony has pre installed a pair of apps called Cinema Pro and Photo Pro which enables the user to further have a full manual control on everything. It has both human eye and animal eye AF for much better focusing. It also has a dedicated camera button which allows the user to autofocus when partially pressed and to click a picture when fully pressed.

The main camera is a 24mm 12MP F1.7 wide camera with a size of 1/1.7".Sony uses the same Exmor RS technology here which can be seen in their high end Alpha cameras and has dual Pixel Photo Diode(PD) sensor. This results in having faster and accurate autofocus and enables the user to capture images lightning fast and helps even more while taking low light images and burst shots. It also has built-in OIS.It is capable of shooting 20 frames/sec while making adjustment of autofocus and exposure 60 times every second thus making it the first smartphone ever to do that. The second one is a 70mm 12MP F2.4 telephoto camera with a size of 1/3.4". It also has a PD sensor with built-in OIS and is capable of 3x Optical zoom. The third and final camera is a 16mm 12MP F2.2 ultrawide lens with a size of 1/2.55" and a field of view of 124°. This lens also has a dual pixel PD AF and uses the same Exmor RS technology as the main camera.

Apart from the main cameras there is an additional 0.3MP 3D Time Of Flight(TOP) sensor for faster subject recognition. All the 3 lens has a ZIESS T* coating which helps in reduction of reflections.Every lens is capable of 3x digital zoom and capture HDR images.

This camera is capable of recording 4K HDR content upto 60fps with both Optical and Electornic image stabilization. Even though Sony has put on a lot of effort on camera, there are few downsides to it, it is still not capable of 8K recording and super slowmo. It can only record 120fps slowmotion videos.

The front camera is a 8MP F2.2 wide lens and capable of taking HDR pictures and portrait selfies. There is a feature called SteadyShot which uses 5-axis stabilization to capture more stable selfie videos.

Design & Display:

The device is well built and has a boxier look without any fancy curved edges and comes with an aluminium frame and a glass back. Both the front and back are made using Gorilla Glass 6.It is IP65/IP68 dust/water resistant.

It comes with a gorgeous 6.5" ,21:9 CinematicWide 4K (3840x1644) HDR OLED display, with a screen-to-body ratio of 82.76% and a pixel density of 643ppi. This Display enables the user to have an ultimate cinematic experience even though it has a noticeable amount of bezel on top and bottom, it provides pure entertainment for the user. With other companies making the switch from 60Hz to 90Hz and 120Hz it still has standard 60Hz refresh rate.

Hardware & Software:

It comes with the latest Snapdragon 865 with 8 GB Ram and 256 GB fast UFS 3.0 storage and can be expandable upto 1 TB via a micro SD card(hybrid slot). It is 5G ready. Sony has gone Old School in some areas, it still has the capacitive fingerprint scanner which is now mounted on the power button unlike the the Xperia 1 and still has a headphone jack.It has stereo speakers with built in Dolby Atmos. The only downside is its 4000mAh battery which is not really great for the price tag and with the display set to 4K it juices out much faster. It comes with 21W fast charging(USB-C) and 11W wireless charging.

This devices comes with Android 10 straight out of the box. Sony has gone with a clean UI which is nearly identical to stock.

The Sony Xperia 1 II can be connected to a Dual Shock 4 controller to play android games and comes with something called Motion Blur Reduction which helps in the reduction frame lag.
