Even during the COVID-19 pandemic, Apple has been working diligently on their fall lineup of products. Ranging from new iPhones to a new line of headphones, Apple is planning to release a plethora of new products. As of now, we can expect a new lineup of phones, a new line of headphones, and much more.

iPhone 12

Apple is expected to announce its new smartphone lineup: the iPhone 12, iPhone 12 Max, iPhone 12 Pro, and iPhone 12 Pro Max. The base model is expected to sport a 5.4-inch screen, which is smaller than all of the iPhones released last year. The 12 Max and 12 Pro will have 6.1-inch screens and the 12 Pro Max will have a whopping 6.7-inch screen! The new Pro lineup is also expected to include a LiDAR sensor along with an upgraded triple camera setup similar to the iPhone 11 Pro lineup. In addition to this, the new iPhones will have flat edges similar to the iPad Pro and a smaller notch. One recent leak by Jon Prosser suggests that the new iPhones will no longer come with a charger or earbuds. This is to reduce the price to compensate for the new components, reduce e-waste, and encourage buyers to purchase AirPods. As for the price, the iPhone 12 is expected to sell for $649, the 12 Max will be sold for $749, the 12 Pro will be sold for $999, and the 12 Pro Max will sell for $1,099. All of the phones except for the 12 Pro Max are expected to launch at the same time because the 12 Pro Max may be delayed according to EverythingApplePro.

AirPods Studio

Apple’s new over-ear headphones were leaked recently and are expected to be announced this fall. The AirPods Studio (what leakers suggest it will be called) will be Apple’s new over-ear headphones. Expected to be around $349, which is $100 more than the AirPods Pro, these headphones will pack a punch. AirPods Studio will have everything that the AirPods Pro has, including Active Noise Cancellation (ANC) and Transparency mode, and more. It will also have head and neck detection so that the music will automatically pause if the headphones are resting on your neck. Additionally, these headphones will have equalizer settings, which are very rare in headphones. This means that you can wear the headphones either way, with no specific left and right side. The AirPods Studio will also have swappable ear cups and paddings. Apple’s new headphones are going to join the AirPods lineup and will be marketed and sold separately from the current Beats lineup. What this means is that Apple might be trying to replace the Beats lineup with their own branded headsets.

AirPower

Although AirPower was already announced and then officially cancelled, it may make a reappearance during the fall event. AirPower was Apple’s failed wireless charging mat that was supposed to be able to charge your AirPods, Apple Watch, and iPhone simultaneously. Everyone thought this product had been scrapped, but new leaks from Ming-Chi Kuo suggest that Apple has been working on a “small wireless charging pad” that will be released in 2020. No further details were provided.

AirTags

AirTags are meant to be small, tile-like Bluetooth tracking devices. These devices are meant to be attached to items like keys, phones, or wallets so that if they get lost, they can be tracked using the Find My app. Similar products such as Tile and Adero have been used extensively for some time, but with AirTags and their increased integration with Apple devices, it will be hard not to switch. As of now, the leaks for AirTags were hinted at through code in iOS 13. AirTags are designed to automatically detect when an item has been lost. If they detect a lost item, your phone will get a notification, and if you tap on the notification, the AirTag will chime loudly, letting you know the location of the lost item. If an AirTag is very far away from your phone, the tag will send a signal to the iPhone closest to it. This signal will send your contact information to the nearest iPhone so that the finder can return the item to the owner.

The AirTags will be controlled by the Find My app on Apple devices. In addition to these features, the AirTag is speculated to have an AR feature as well. Your iPhone may say something like, “Move the phone up and down until you see a balloon.” Then, it might say, “Follow the balloons to the AirTag.” AirTags are also expected to have a removable coin battery much like watches. The AirTags will be extremely accurate, customizable, and waterproof. The price of this product is still unknown.

Because of the COVID-19 pandemic, the fall event will be delayed to late September or early October. However, this event will still be packed with new products, with the release of the iPhone 12 lineup, the AirPods Studio, AirPower, and possibly AirTags. As of now, nothing is set in stone. As we approach the date for the fall event, we will learn more information as leaks continue to surface.
