Raspberry Pis have always been affordable, and as time passes, they are getting cheaper and are being equipped with more powerful hardware. The Raspberry Pi Foundation has released a new model of the Pi 4, doubling the ram to 8 GB. The price? Only $75. It’s still the same Pi 4 that was released last year, as the variant still has the same ARM CPU, HDMI, USB 3, and Ethernet Ports.

For $75, 8 GB RAM is great value. Compared to the 4 GB RAM of the previous model, this is a huge jump. It should allow users to run more demanding applications, compile larger pieces of software, run heavier server workloads, or just have more browser tabs open. The increased amount of RAM will also be great for running Minecraft and Minetest servers.

To fully utilize the 8 GB of RAM, you would need a 64 bit OS. Currently, the Pi runs Raspbian, a 32 bit lightweight Linux distribution. 32 bit operating systems can only utilize a maximum of 4 GB RAM. The Raspberry Pi Foundation is working on a 64 bit version of Raspbian (In Early Beta), so you take full advantage of the increased amount of RAM.

In conclusion, the Raspberry Pi 4 is a great device. It’s a small, affordable, single-board computer that can be used to create almost anything. It enables people of all ages to explore computing. It can be used as a cheap little media streaming device or even an emulator for old classics. For all of the engineers, young innovators, and programmers out there, this is a great and affordable entry-level computer for learning about robotics.
