TechTogether Boston 2019 is only a few weeks away, and our team is gearing up for an inspirational and jam-packed event with an anticipated attendance of over 1,000 women and non-binary individuals from around the world. This year, we are excited to engage around 40 sponsors including corporations, non-profits, and universities with our hacker community. TechTogether Boston is not just about learning new technical skills, but learning about the various industries technology can be applied to and how to forge one's career path into tech.

This year, our partners are heavily invested in recruiting our participants for internship and full-time career opportunities. Wayfair, TechTogether Boston 2019’s title sponsor, will be doing on-site interviews while about 35 of our sponsors will be tabling and actively collecting resumes. IBM Research is giving away internships to the winning team members of their hackathon challenge, “Trusted AI: Making AI Safer and More Fair.” Atlassian is taking a creative approach to recruiting by having a “Hacker House Cafe” by their table at the career fair where they will serve coffee and snacks. For students looking for a summer internship or a full-time role for this year, TechTogether Boston 2019 has plenty of opportunities to get hired. Even for those who are not currently job searching, this is a great opportunity to explore different industries and technical roles.

Wayfair Will Be Conducting On-site Interviews

Our partners are not only at the event to recruit, but also to share their industry expertise with the participants through workshops and tech talks. Workshop topics range from artificial intelligence with Dell’s “Building a ChatBot” workshop to mobile app development with Wayfair’s “Building Your First Android App” and “Augmented Reality on Android” workshops. Additionally, Women Who Code Boston will be holding a beginner-friendly workshop that teaches participants how to build a simple web app in an hour. Tech talk and keynote topics range across industries from healthcare to retail to fintech. There is something here for everyone regardless of prior technical experience and area of interest.

In addition to tech talks and workshops, our partners are hosting fun mini-events so our hackers can take a break from coding. Microsoft is offering a session on “Self Care in Tech” to focus on mindfulness, while Wayfair is hosting a meditation session. To stress the importance of movement at work, Blue Cross Blue Shield is hosting a mini-event called “Recess!” where hackers will participate in activities like tic-tac-toe, tag, and hopscotch.

The TechTogether Boston team is excited to welcome our second round of partners to our community and we look forward to working with them to host a successful hackathon.
