Chatbots: Fourth Industrial revolution or Not???

Everyone around is so curious about bots and technology behind them. Some people believe that bots are just a science fiction while some have faith in technology. But you believe it or not chatbots are already around us, working with us and helping us in getting our daily tasks done.!!!

I know all the technophiles these days, want to learn and read more about chatbots. So, I am here going to introduce you with little but expanding world of chatbots.

If I talk in laymen terms, chatbots are applications that can mimic human conversations using Machine Learning algorithms and Natural Language Processing.

You can chat with your friends on any chat application similar to that, a chatbot can chat with you and respond you according to the type of questions you have asked. Although they cannot make you feel same as another human being but on business level, chatbots can prove to be very successful.

Interesting Facts:

Facebook:

Chatbots become more popular after the Facebook CEO, Mark Zuckerberg, allowed developers to use chatbots on Facebook Messenger. Since then, 300, 000 chatbots are currently active on facebook platform.

IBM:

IBM intially has created an educational chatbot, Watson Computer, for kids that can provide answer to general questions asked by kids. This chatbot has won 1 million $ prize in a Quiz competition against human champions.

Customer Care:

Chatbots provides an amazing customer service experience. If programmed efficiently they can provide direct answers to some basic customer questions like a New York based company is using IBM’s chatbot ‘Rocky’ to provide information to prespective diamond buyers. It can also explain customers about services and product information that your business can provide.

Personal Assistants:

Contact Centre AI is a Google’s tool in which we can attach a contact number and it can take your calls as a virtual assistant. Chatbots also can be used as a personal assistant that can regularly remind you about yor daily tasks and obviously it is fun to talk with Siri and Alexa. Cortana.

Marketing & Branding:

Chatbots prove to be very successul for marketing as well. A company can easily automate mail and message campaigning using chatbots. This is the main reason why 80% of businesses want to have a chatbot by 2020!!!!

Making Payments:

I know this one is scary but yes all the recharge and online payments that you make are hadled by chatbots. They make checkout and payment proces simpler for E-commerce sites.

Future of Chatbots:

What is perhaps most exciting is a future where Apple’s Siri and Amazon’s Alexa can interact with chatbots to make the customer experience better than ever. Imagine telling Siri to find out if your favourite store has a certain pair of boots in your size. Simply put the question to her and she will connect with a bot and find you the answer.

This can extend beyond a basic retail experience to booking dental appointments, managing your finances and even notifying inventory level in manufacturing companies.

Chatbots, artificial intelligence and voice activated assistants are fuelling the fourth industrial revolution, a period of great change which will affect all industries.
