How Some of your favorite websites use Machine Learning!!!!!!!
Walking through the journey of life as a Software Engineer, I also got a chance to dig into machine learning & I was totally amazed by the present market achievements of machine learning. Isn’t it cool to accept the fact that ML is already lifting our lives up through our favorite websites like Swiggy, Netflix etc.

1. Pinterest: Just pin it!!!
Open the app & you find loads of blogs or image suggestions that you fall in love with. Yes!! this is where pinterest uses ML, It learn about your choices and personal tastes and personalize your feed accordingly to provide an amazing user experience. Pinterest has its’ own computer vision models that “see” the content of each Pin, filtering abusive and misleading content.
ML Algorithms build a feed of your choice and display it to you so that you crave to open it in your free time.

2. Swiggy: What to eat? What to eat?
Now machine learning also decides what to eat & where to eat according to your mood. Swiggy personalizes the list of restaurants & type of food a user will prefer with the help of machine learning. It also assigns delivery boy and provides time estimate.
So every time when you have food craving and open Swiggy.. remember! that ML is there to cheer you up with some awesome food suggestions.
3. Netflix: “See What’s next”
Oh Wait!! What? Yess!! Your favourite entertainment website!!! It learns about you everyday and every time when you watch or search about a movie, it makes a note on your likes and dislikes. No wonder, Netflix has 17.6 million users!!! It makes a very interesting use of this sophisticated technology without you even knowing.
Netflix has a very strong recommendation system to engage you in watching TV series and movie one after another. So that is how it makes a fun trap to make you watch Netflix whole day & night.
4. LinkedIn: “A professional network”
LinkedIn is the main subject of my study. Before this study, I have never stressed myself much about LinkedIn’s people & job suggestions.
As my LinkedIn profile details are full of python , LinkedIn always suggests me the same courses. This is where LinkedIn uses machine learning, It regularly studies my profile and actions on LinkedIn and personalize my feed and recommendations accordingly.

The only favorite social media platform of this generation. Facebook uses machine learning for loads of stuff. From user’s favorite feed and advertisements to reduce spam content, Facebook uses machine learning for all of them. Computer vision algorithms read images & videos to the blind. Speech recognition system automatically caption the videos that play in the news feed & create new magical visual experiences on user’s special day. Machine learning helps in reducing spam profiles generated on Facebook everyday.
6. Google: Just Google It!!!
When we talk about Machine learning, How can we forget about google. Google have their own open source machine learning library and they have very vast application of ML. Google corrects spellings from your search text and show you exactly what you want. It uses ML in image recognition and classifies pictures according to category and these pictures are collected all over the internet & it uses ML in providing useful recommendations on YouTube.
7. Uber: Everyone’s private driver
Yes, Your daily transportation is now also embedded with machine learning. When you open the Uber & get destination timing and traffic suggestions, Boom!!! you come in touch with AI. ML also matches & suggest drivers once you confirm the ride.
Moreover, to provide better support service and to organize routes and maps, Uber uses machine learning algorithms. From driver-rider cohooting to detect fraud account, uber is totally dependent on machine learning.
8. Amazon: A to Z
Amazon provides everything that you need to live & survive. Have you ever wonder how amazon uses ML to enhance the site’s performance? Whenever you look for something on amazon, it provides the suggestion of thousands of supporting things. e.g. If you look for mobile, it will automatically suggests you other accessories like back cover, screen guards etc. that is how amazon has trained itself using ML algorithms.
Moreover, Based on your past searches, amazon provides a personalized recommendation system to every user & that’s how it keeps you engaged on the website and eat your pockets!!!
