Meet Corinne:
What is your role at TechWPG?
As Events and Partnerships Director, I am creating connections so that TechWPG can continue to deliver exceptional content and events. By leading our event marketing strategy, I fuel the buzz on social media about our cannot-miss events and work with our partners and supporters to spread the word. I also help the TechWPG team connect with the many exciting companies in Winnipeg’s tech sector.
What is your vision for TechWPG?
My vision for TechWPG is to be the hub for the what’s-what in Winnipeg’s tech sector. I want our events to be the gathering place for enthusiasts and experts, the collision destination for great ideas, and the networking opportunity for landing or filling that cool tech job. As Winnipeg’s tech community grows and innovates, I want to see TechWPG in the centre of the action.
What experiences led you to TechWPG?
Working for YES! Winnipeg (Economic Development Winnipeg’s business development team), I have learned about so many incredible companies that are making waves in their sector. Joining TechWPG has allowed me to dive further into the tech industry and share the stories of Winnipeg changemakers.
What should people know about TechWPG?
TechWPG is not just for *tech professionals*. Whether you are a video game hobbyist, part-time digital marketer, tech talent recruiter, data science entrepreneur, operating system whisperer, tech support sage, AI aficionado, or a deep-learning PhD, we want you to be part of the TechWPG community. We welcome the career-change curious and the tech industry executives to join in and learn more about this growing sector.
What are some activities outside of work that help you take care of your mental health?
Some days I have a comprehensive morning routine, other days I am swamped dawn to dusk. One thing I never skip is journaling. When I need an extra pick-me-up, I roll out my yoga mat or turn on some ’80s pop.
Give a shout out to a local business that you enjoy eating or shopping at!
As a sucker for novelty, my usual restaurant pick is the one I haven’t been to yet. Otherwise, I often find myself at either King & Bannatyne or Nuburger, but I can’t get over how delicious the food is at Merchant Kitchen. Other local businesses I swoon over include dconstruct, Black Market Provisions, and Generation Green.
