Our helping hands — The TEDxGurugram volunteers
To make the event happen that we’ve envisioned for you, we need many hands to run TEDxGurugram smoothly. After many months of preparations we’re gearing up for the last mile before the event.
So it was time for a little volunteer challenge to get to know each other and brief them of what’s cooking for TEDxGurugram 2016.
We were happy to see that so many people (more than 40) turned up so early at 91Springboard Gurgaon on a Sunday morning. Our volunteer manager, Shaashwat, was convinced they would all show up in time. And they did :)
Let me introduce these amazing humans through a few things we have in common:
- They love to travel more than the average individual
- They connect through music — rather they play an instrument, sing or listen to it all the time
- Art binds them — creating art or enjoying it in form of going to exhibitions or plays and reading books is a fundamental part of their life
- Food is more to them than just nutrition
- They share an undeniable passion for connecting, collaboration and exploration
- They wonder about themselves and the world
- Things they dislike: mismanagement, negativity, stagnation and inequality in any form
Can you relate to them? Think you found your tribe? Then, are you up for it to meet them on 6th November? Well, we are not surprised. Speaking with all the bright and creative people and seeing them in person was splendid. All shared their inspiration on how positive ideas can change the world.
And all of them are happy to dedicate their time and energy to any role in the event. Some stated they would help with setting up our art installations and give support to the production team on the set up day. Others would love to receive speakers or simply prepare them just before they walk on stage. There are so many tiny, but yet crucial tasks to perform which make an event of this scale flawless. Participants tend to forget them when they sit in the audience.
The TEDxGurugram team is a growing family with many dreams and many more passions. Together we’re dreaming already of TEDxGurugramWomen and TEDxYouthGurugram.
But right now there is only one goal: To create an amazing event for our audience on 6th November!
Our motto: If people say you can’t do something, just do it anyway!
