If you have never attended a TEDx event, then you have a exciting learning opportunity waiting ahead for you. Here are 4 reasons why we believe you should attend the upcoming TEDxGLIMChennai event happening on 4th February 2018:

1. The Audience:

TEDx events always gather people from different walks of life to discuss ideas that have the potential to change the world. The audience of the event would be graduates and corporates from various fields. This means that you have a great networking opportunity with the smartest of the lot. You become part of the family of out-of-the-box thinkers who come together to discuss ideas that help make the world a better place.

TEDx Enthusiasts

In spite of the limited audience of 100, we can guarantee that they are diverse, engaging and intelligent. The audience always comes prepared to engage and not just absorb. They are keen to contribute their opinions and ideas. It is this collaboration that brings true value. The event is built to provide as many opportunities to engage as possible. Even during the breaks we have spaces to network and explore ideas further.

2. The Speaker:

The first TEDxGLIMChennai witnessed an eclectic line of speakers including Social Worker Marta Vanduzer-Snow, Table Tennis Prodigy Mudit Dani, Co-Founder of WedMeGood Mehak Sagar, Film Actor Bosskey, Finance Professor Dr. R L Shankar and a student Amitesh Pandey from Great Lakes. Each TEDx talk was unique and enriching to the audience.

TEDxGLIMChennai talks are not about selling or hidden agendas. It all about real stories and ideas that have had a real impact or have the potential to influence change. It is all about being simple, authentic storytelling and meeting TED’s vision of “ideas worth spreading”.

This year’s line-up of speakers includes Gautami Tadimalla who is a well-known Indian Film Actress in South India. She is also a cancer survivor and a social activist. K. Pandiarajan, who is the founder of Ma Foi Management Consultants Ltd and CIEL HR Services. He is also cabinet minister with portfolios of archaeology, Tamil language and Culture in the Tamil Nadu Government. Deepak Kanakaraju, one of the top digital marketing bloggers in India would also be sharing his perspectives. Kartikey Sharma, a cancer-fighting graffiti artist and Mohana Arun, a student from Great Lakes would be sharing their ideas. Finally, one of India’s first Harmonica Beatboxer Bharadwaj Balaji would be performing at the event.

3. The Format:

TEDx is not your typical workshop or conference. We’ve all been to those conferences, workshops, and events where we are bored and walk away with little new information. However, TEDx events are all about stimulating and inspiring us to open our minds to new possibilities. A TEDx talk is not more than 18 minutes. It can even be as short as 3 minutes. Most events limit you to a particular discipline or industry topic. However, TEDxGLIMChennai is diversity at a whole new level.

4. The Team:

TEDxGLIMChennai 2018 Team

The team is led by Dr. Vaidy Jayaraman, Distinguished Professor, Principal & Associate Dean of Great Lakes Institute of Management, Chennai. How many TEDx events in India have you come across where the Associate Dean of the institution is the Organiser and Licensee of a TEDx event? Well, TEDxGLIMChennai team shows how involved are both management and the students in making the TEDx experience. The event is co-organised by a student Bharat S Raj, who was also the Co-organiser of the first edition of TEDxGLIMChennai. Volunteers in the event also have a prior experience in organizing TEDx events and it will surely reflect in the event.

Every talk may not impact your life, but we can assure that it will certainly make you think and will change your life in some way. Attending a TEDx event can change your life but not instantaneously. It will not happen in a day. A TEDx event certainly will make you a better person.

So, what are you waiting for? Come along, share, learn and grow.
