TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience.

Our event is called TEDxReykjavík, where ‘x’ represents the fact that our event is independently organized. At our event, TEDTalks videos as well as live speakers combine to spark deep discussions and connections in a small group.

TEDx is an international community that organizes TED-style events anywhere and everywhere.

TEDxReykjavík was first held in Reykjavík, Iceland in October of 2009. Since then, we’ve held six TEDx events as well as other smaller events, featuring in total over 75 speakers, spreading inspiring ideas among the local community in Reykjavík and worldwide.

Speakers at previous TEDxReykjavík events have included both individuals from the Icelandic community as well as international speakers, all sharing a dedication to changing both their local communities as well as the world around them. Speakers come from various disciplines and backgrounds; we’ve featured entrepreneurs, innovators, scientists, educators, artists, creators and more!

Ýmir Vigfússon spoke at TEDxReykjavík 2014 about why he teaches his students how to hack, and how understanding hacking gives an insight into computer security.
Vignir Gudmundsson spoke at TEDxReykjavík 2016 about the importance of teaching kids how to code.

Our goal is to keep spreading ideas among our local community and encourage discussions, dialogues and interest in changing the world through inspiring talks. So, follow us here on Medium for various stories, articles and most importantly, ideas worth spreading brought to you by TEDxReykjavík!
