The year 2020 marks the start of a decade that promises to be filled with opportunities for the African continent. Beyond the expanding digital revolution within the region, there is also increasing interest by global companies to include Africa in its growth strategy. However, along with this advancement is a need to rearrange priorities and ignite conversations with greater relevance to our direction as a continent. This makes 2020 such a significant year in our agenda.

This year, in commitment to our vision, TEDxYaba is looking forward to bringing together some of the finest thinkers across the globe to Lagos Nigeria, as we hope to facilitate conversations around ideas that we believe are germane to Africa’s advancement to a more prosperous future.

We hope to explore ideas themed around: How we can build a more integrated continent.

We are raising the questions on how technology can help Africa take advantage of its multi-diversity for better collaboration. We’re also curious about the opportunities that already exist for socio-economic convergence in the continent. In addition, we are considering the possibilities for convergence between afro-indigenous knowledge and scientific advancement in order to facilitate new technological breakthroughs.

Another way we hope to examine the concept of convergence is in how we can better promote peace and security within our borders despite our vast differences.

Kicking off with our major event for the year themed, Convergence, these conversations will trickle down to smaller discussions in our smaller-sized Salon events and hopefully beyond the ambits of TEDxYaba to everyday gatherings like a lunch table or a social media group.

To attend any of our upcoming events, follow our blog or any of our social media pages: Instagram, Twitter and Facebook or visit our website, and expect updates when registration begins.
